Big Baby

Tiny Boy turns 8 months tomorrow.  Tomorrow!!!  How is that even possible?

He's huge.  Okay, he's not huge.  He's 16 lbs with a puffy cloth diaper on, which is both small and more than three times his birth weight.

He's crawling.  Within a week, he's gone from taking some crab like tentative scootches forward to crossing whole rooms to find me.  Like, I need to get those baby gates up NOW.  (My friend A. has had one of them through two children, the oldest of which is a first grader.)  He'd really like to get into the kitchen to play with the cat water, which was exactly what LG did at that age.

And this morning, we woke up to a TOOTH.  He won't let me see it, but there's a sharpy in there.  And he's a huge grouch.

So it turns out that loon of a pediatrician was right on all physical counts.  Yes, he still has reflux, and, yes, he's teething.  No, we will not be Ferberizing any time soon (though to be fair, he slept much better last week next to me when I was basically comatose than when I dump him in the crib by himself).

8 months?!  That's like my whole pregnancy ago.  Wow.

  1. 8 months old? Really? Where did this time go? I'm still picturing him with a teeny little newborn face! And a tooth! Way to go Tiny Boy!

  4. Wow-crawling at 8 months seems crazy early to me! Both of my kids were slow starters, especially my second. I don't think he was able to cover any significant ground until about 13 months. And then he only crawled for about a month before he was walking. Which is probably not the worst thing considering how dirty our house tends to be with two dogs and constant renovations. But still made me worry...

  5. LG crawled (and cruised) by 6 months, so I'm grateful he's just a tad slower. He can stand unassisted for a few seconds, though, so I suspect he'll be walking earlier than she did (which was still 12 mo).
