Treading the Same Ground

Maybe two years ago the main street that runs through town was repaved.  And since then it seems almost monthly the same small strip of road is ripped up again, with electrical and sewer work.  It's patched up more or less better (for a while there was a huge dip) until the process is repeated again.

It seems an apt metaphor for my mental processes lately.

I'm stuck, treading the same ground over and over.  All the conversations with Dr. Gorgeous 2008-2011 spinning my wheels.  Pregnancy loss and everything that could have happened, but didn't.  The horrible situation with my junior colleague last spring and what it means for going back to work.

Don't get me wrong:  I'm not sad.  I'm "happy" and productive and all those things.  And mostly that spinning is translating into creative work--and maybe that's just HOW I work--so that's something.  But in my more conscious life, I'd also like to let things go.
