Small Good Things

  1. It is open window weather.  That is the good thing.  But remember how this house didn't have screens and I needed to have them custom made?  Unfortunately they are not super secure and we had an incident involving both kittens--cats?  they're about one and large but still kitteny in terms of behavior--escaping.  Fortunately they were too afraid to go anywhere and the three of us rounded them up.  Now I know I can't open a window more than about 2 inches, but at least they are OPEN.
  2. Our university ice cream shop is open for curbside pickup, so yesterday we ordered 3 pints.  Usually there's a line out the door.  This was so easy.  Three flavors!  Yum!
  3. Watching:  Bunheads (if you like Gilmore Girls and/or are a former dancer this is good fun).  Next up in film fest with LG:  Get Out.  Reading:  Rodham and Dreyer's English (OMG, delightful).
  4. Our town has a fabulous plan to close a downtown street and set up picnic tables 12 feet apart where you can sit and purchase local restaurant fare.  This is the sort of thing I love about living in a university town.  I do hope our state govt goes along with this plan.  I really miss rooftop dining from one of our local establishments and this would be so great.
  5. I get to see actual humans today!  While of course I have SEEN actual humans I haven't actually planned on seeing friends face to face since early March.  We're going to sit outside.  I'm even going to wear a bra and a summery dress.

  1. Yea for seeing friends in person and having a reason to put on leave-the-house clothes!

  2. We have a university dairy store too and this reminded me to go check if they're open. And umm...hey--I wonder if you're in the same town as I am?

  3. Oh, I loved Dreyer's English--so much, in fact, that I bought an extra copy to share around at work (given that we are all proud language nerds). I've been looking forward to reading Rodham but, especially since reading your comments on it, can't bring myself to buy it in hardcover, even though I'm a major Sittenfeld fan. Guess it's the public library waitlist for me.
