Six Years Later

I'm headed tomorrow to a conference I used to frequent...and haven't since I was in the midst of the IVF cycle that resulted in Tiny Boy.  I'm feeling nostalgia and je ne sais quoi.

I'm excited to see people...my diss director, some friends who have moved out of state, my collaborator from the project that made me crazy.  I'm excited to do all my hotel rituals, like long baths, and painting my toenails, and ordering room service.

But this going back as a completely different person is weighing on me a bit.

I'm sure compounding the situation is he's FIVE and I need to fill out kindergarten paperwork, and just this week I got a notice from the fertility clinic about a leftover sperm sample (yes, from six years ago) I'd indicated I wanted to donate.  And embryos are en route from long term storage, back to the local clinic, for whenever The Artist decides to cycle.

It's a lot to think about, even if it's all good.

  1. Your hotel rituals sound amazing. But yeah, life changes so much so fast with kids. I'm getting ready to register L for KG, too. Its bittersweet.
