My Favorite Thanksgiving Ever

Well, to be sure, my FAVORITE Thanksgiving ever was this one, but I think this one is a close second.  It's been a low-key, catch-up sort of week.

Monday: I taught, though one of my classes had a library info session, so that required no prep on my part.  I also decided that we required Thanksgiving-flavored turkey burgers and stuffing, so I made those, even though LG mocked the cranberry-mayo.

Tuesday:  In the morning, I submitted a ton of small manuscripts with deadlines of Dec 1.  In the afternoon, I went to the gym and then took LG to a therapy appt (which wiped me out, frankly) and then to the CSA for Thanksgiving pick up.

Wednesday:  Tiny Boy and I went to the coffee shop; he ate a chocolate croissant, and I had a latte (which is apparently a new thing that I like, although that much milk doesn't sit well with me).  I dropped him at day camp, spent some time plowing through the backlog of student work, worked out, went to Whole Foods to pick up a few things, came home to....no LG.  I had a good 45 seconds of panic before I found my phone and four messages (all sent in the 5 minute window during which I was driving the car).  Talked to LG, who was en route to a friend's house.  Score!  Made some tea, put on The West Wing and returned to the backlog of student work.  Made  big pot of this chili. Drafted a letter of recommendation.  Dealt with random email.  Picked up Tiny Boy.  Ate chili.  Took Tiny Boy for belated flu shot.  Put cranky boy to bed.  Watched The Great British Baking Show with LG.  Read Paul Auster's mammoth 4321 that is making me cranky but Paul Auster, so, yeah.

Thursday:  Awake with cats too early.  Ignored them until 6:55 when I fed them.  Fell back to sleep.  Awake with Tiny Boy 7:28.  Fell back to sleep.  Tiny Boy called at 8:00 for milk (which he requires warmed up).  Fell back to sleep until almost 9:00.  I guess I was tired.  (I am also, parenthetically, having my period again, which makes this twice this month, as compared maybe three times in all of the rest of 2017.  I liked the other version of perimenopause better.  But this does explain my random food cravings and such.)

It is now 10:00, and I have put in another load of laundry, read a bit in Auster, cleaned up in the kitchen.  Shortly I'm going to acquire tampons (ugh) and some more baking supplies.  Then I'm spending the rest of the day puttering around the house baking and roasting veggies.  We'll go to my friend A's house around 4:00.  The rest of the weekend will involve some adventures with kids (paint-your-own-pottery studio?  trampoline place?) and a lot of domestic work.  Work work will wait.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
