Well, the good news is that one of my book manuscripts is a finalist (top 5) in a major national competition in my field. Bad news is I didn't catch which one and managed to hit "delete" instead of "save" on the voicemail. Gah! I hope to hear back from the competition coordinator soon...
Please please please let things go right in the universe and let me get a book contract out of this!
ETA: Well now I know. And much as I'm thrilled about the news for one manuscript, I'm sad for the one that isn't a finalist (which is actually the one I assumed it was). C'est la vie, non?
