I have a phone call in to the nurses, but just for my peace of mind, someone check my math.
Last time I was on 40 mcg of microdose lupron twice daily, which was the equivalent of 10 units (conentration was 40 mcg/0.1 ml). This time, my dose has been halved to 20 mcg yet the instructions say to inject 20 units. The final concentration on the medication seems to be 20 mcg/0.2 ml [instead of 0.1 ml]. So that is 20 units, right? And I'm not actually injecting myself with twice as much as I'm supposed to? Because for someone who was oversuppressed last time, taking too much would be VERY BAD.

And because there always needs to be a little levity with IVF, get this: So the folks at Evil Special Order Pharmacy asked if I'd like a sharps container. Sure, I said, as my tupperware from last time is all full. They ended up sending me a container about as big as my hand, which might hold 2 days worth of needles, as I'm on 4-6 shots daily come Saturday. At least I got a good laugh out of that one.
Your math looks right to me.
ReplyDeleteI think I know that evil pharmacy you speak of and FWIW, Wal-Mart has a nice sharps container for about 3 bucks! Save your tupperware.
The nurse agrees (though she was surprised by the concentration). Thanks for the tip. I still need to figure out what to do with all those needles....
ReplyDeleteYou'd think a pharmacy would realize how important an adequate sharps container is!
