Random Bullets at Quiet Time

  • I wonder how much longer I can get away with having mandatory "quiet time" on days LG is home with me. I mean, she gave up naps at 3. Since then, she needs to be in her room, listening to books on tape or doing some kind of QUIET activity, usually for 40-60 min. She needs it, and I need it. If we're out and about, it's not like I make us come home to get the time in, but usually the rhythm of our days fall such that getting quiet time isn't a problem.
  • What I'm finding interesting is that what my acupuncturist said lined up perfectly with the meridian quiz I took from the Lewis book and also with some self observation. So while I'm not in a place that I'm going to try random weird things like eating algae and wheatgrass, I will tweak my diet and lifestyle in small ways. Curious, for instance, that I've been craving cherries like nobody's business this summer, and that's a fruit that's supposedly good for my issues. Wheat: bad. Milk: bad. Black beans and yams: good. Lots of quiet and rest: important. I'll be curious to see how this all plays out once my cycle gets going. I really think if Dr. Gorgeous figures out a good protocol I will respond very well.
  • I took LG shoe shopping this morning, after she revealed that she'd been putting tissues in her shoes to make them more comfortable (yeah, that didn't work out so well). She is now the proud owner of a pair of light up shoes. I'd agreed to let her try them on--they were brown and pink and not obnoxious as far as girls' shoes go--before I knew they flashed red when she walked. We've been having the light up shoe fight for about three years now. I finally caved. But how pathetic is it that her shoes cost almost as much as mine? I hope her teacher likes light up shoes.
  • This afternoon we're meeting friends at the park, which will be nice. Girls can run around, and grown-ups can talk.
  • We need groceries: fruit, meat, bread for LG. And good dark chocolate for me since I'm giving up the ice cream which is apparently the worst thing in the world, at least for my bodily issues (it's cold, it's sugary, and it's dairy).
  • Well, LG's listened to two tapes, so I think it's time to break her out of jail and get on with our afternoon. Have a happy day!

  1. Mmm... chocolate... Not that I'm having envy issues, LOL. ;)
