Have I told you that when LG was maybe 3.5, I walked into her classroom to pick her up where the teacher said, "Umm...LG said her dad was living in your basement?" Oh, I said, "that would be an IMAGINARY dad."
He was from Africa, it turns out, and had another family there, and then he would live in our basement and sometimes sat on our porch. He vanished as quickly as he arrived.
Tiny Boy told his teacher the other day that Santa Claus was his dad. I think it was more disturbing to her that he was ruining other kids' ideas about Christmas than, you know, the FAKE DAD part of it. I don't quite know where to start.
Happy Hanukkah.
