Five Years Ago Tonight

Exactly five years ago, I was getting an epidural and getting prepped for a c-section, after a labor I still haven't emotionally processed and won't bore you with now. The good part happened a few hours later, when I finally held LG and nursed her for the first time. She was real, she was solid, she was mine.

It's really hard to believe that the screaming mass who weighed less than 7 lbs at birth is now a 42 lb, 43 inch person who knows how to read words and write "Love Mom," among other things. Even harder to believe that the baby who drank prescription formula until 23 months celebrated her fifth birthday with a meal of sushi (she likes avocado rolls) and shrimp tempura. Pretty amazing indeed. Happy Birthday, LG!
