Going for Pregnancy #4

Sort of shocking to think that's where I'm at. I think in general having a child already makes dealing with fertility issues much easier, but I'm really struggling with concerns about recurrent loss (RPL). It's easy enough to write one miscarriage off as a sad but very normal occurrence. And statistically, even though this is my second loss, it's also 6.5 years after the first so in some respects, probably entirely unrelated. I know that intellectually. But I'm absolutely petrified that this is just the beginning of a series of losses.

I'm guessing that my beta is down substantially (maybe at 40?) as all my symptoms are dwindling. I have, at most, one more dose of progesterone before I see the doctor tomorrow, so I'm hoping my "cycle" starts by the end of the week.

Things I need to discuss with Dr. Gorgeous:
  1. Reasons for low beta, other than chromosomal/embryo issues.
  2. Testing for RPL, esp. Factor V Leiden and MTHFR. Also, B12.
  3. Heparin/Lovenox.
  4. This next cycle. Can I use the same Estrace/Femara protocol? Do I need to take the cycle off? If so, should we just move on to IVF?
  5. IVF protocol and timing.
  6. Making the most of the specimens of LG's donor potentially available but not yet purchased. (Down to only one IUI vial of my own.)

If anyone has insights on any of the above, or questions you think I should ask, please let me know. What's actually ridiculous about all this is that I had an appointment on June 2, 2003 to talk about many of these same issues, as I was going for pregnancy #2. What I didn't know was that LG was already happily floating around in my uterus, looking for a cozy spot for implantation. How far I've come in six years.

  1. no matter how far spaced our miscarriages are, i think it still hurts... and brings with them all the questions all over again.

sending you hugs and hope in this journey.
