Dear Readers: Some Questions

  1. Has anyone taken Medrol? It's on my calendar for an unspecified number of days. All I've been able to gather is that it's a steroid often taken prior to transfer. I'm wondering why not prednisone or dexamethasone or the like, and I'd like ammunition before I freak out on Dr. G tomorrow.
  2. For you DE folks, how much did your donor's stim meds cost and/or do you know the kinds of doses she was on? I'm hoping I have enough leftover Menopur/Follistim to cover most of her stims cost. I suppose the nurses can tell me tomorrow, but I'm curious.

I think that's all. If I'm not pregnant, I'll be back on the pill in 2 weeks. Yowza.

  1. I seem to recall my donor's meds cost right around $3800. NYC prices, because being the young, fertile thang she was, she didn't actually need very much, as I recall...

  2. Gulp. That's a lot higher than I expected. I'm hoping that I've got enough in my stash that our combined med cost isn't more than $1500.

  3. I just completed a DE cycle and my donor meds cost me close to $ 4,000. My donor as well didn't need as much either. I think I paid for 3 boxes of Foll which we 900 cartitages

  4. That's helpful. I'm donating 4 cartridges of Follistim (600 units) and 3 boxes of Menopur (375 units?), so I'm hoping that's close to enough to get her through the cycle.

  5. My donor was dirt cheap, like $2000 maybe? Maybe less - I cannot remember.

She is of The Fertiles. Shouldnt be too much.

    Hoping for a BFP anyhow.

  6. Here's to hoping to a BFP and you won't have to deal with it anyway. With what you have you should be good. I was lucky we used a proven donor and she really seemed to know what she was doing.

    GOOD LUCK

  7. I don't remember exactly. I had a lot of donated meds at the time. The biggest expense was buying lupron twice. She had an allergic reaction to the generic lupron (yikes. thought I was gonna get cancelled before we even started) so I had to buy more lupron. She was young and fertile and responded so she needed so much less medication. Maybe two days of stims for me covered her whole cycle?
