- DCL emailed me the donor's stats and baby photos (I made it clear I don't want to see adult photos). The donor was wicked cute as a baby and looks enough like LG did as a baby that she's probably a reasonable physical match. And while her stats don't strike me as fantastic, all her cycles but the first (which DCL said was done at a clinic with an ABYSMAL success rate, though she didn't name it) led to singleton pregnancies and embryos to freeze. I zapped them to Dr. Gorgeous to get her stamp of approval, so we'll see.
- Dr. Gorgeous is quite excited about moving forward. While I'm not excited--frankly I feel like I'm going to throw up--I'm trying to trust her that this will work.
- Meeting Grad Student Friend, who actually isn't my grad student anymore (yay for PhDs and jobs!!) for coffee and "writing group" today, which is my first foray back into my own writing in a while.
- I just looked at the program for my upcoming conference, and a friend of mine from grad school, whom I haven't seen in, gosh, about six years, will be there. I'm stoked (even if I will be on lupron!).
- The receptionist at my therapist's office just called with a cancellation. Which means I can actually talk to her before I send in this damn contract, which is good.
I am completely freaking out, people.
I'm sorry you're freaking out. I hope it gets easier & that the Lupron treats you gently.
ReplyDeleteFascinating choice not to want to see the donor. Did you post about why this is the case somewhere I can catch up?
ReplyDeleteHey, Roccie. It's something I've mentioned but not discussed in any detail. It might be because I come to this process by way of sprm donors, and you are NEVER given their adult photos, as a way to protect anonymity. The other clinic I considered using for DE did have photos on their website, and I just felt sick looking at them. Mostly, I don't like the idea of picking a donor on appearance (whether or not she's "pretty" enough, etc.) If the cycle works, I suspect I'll be curious about this donor's looks somewhere down the road and might try to get the adult photo for the child, in the same way I acquired additional info about lG's donor that didn't go into the decision making process but I thought she might want (a CD, for instance).
