Okay, let me just say this sucks.
And by this I refer to the past two nights, when Tiny Boy slept for 4-5 hour stretches and I was AWAKE the whole fucking time. Thinking about work. Thinking about my sore breasts. Thinking about whether or not my baby was still breathing in his crib.
Last night he was out from maybe 7:20 until 12:30 or so. And I was wake until sometime past 2:00, despite going to bed at 9:30!!!!!!!
When he wakes from his nap, we are going to the drug store and buying Benadryl. (I am assuming ambien is not okay for breastfeeding mums, but perhaps I should look into that.)
Argh!

Am currently in negotiations with Bitter Senior Colleague about which one of us is going to take on the position of program director. I want it. But I think she's right that I'm not in a place I could do it. Then again, if I could get tenure while undergoing multiple years of fertility treatment and having miscarriages, well, ummm, I can probably do almost anything.

You probably know this, but if you don't... Benedryl will dry up your breasts while you're taking it. (I use anti-histimines at conferences so I don't drip if I can't get to my pump.)
ReplyDeleteDoesn't seem to have much of an effect on me in a single dose...maybe because I have an oversupply issue, if anything...
ReplyDeleteWhen I got home from the hospital after delivery, I too had insomnia. I tried to sleep, I would even cry I was so mad at myself for not sleeping. I started taking Benadryl about 1/2 hr before bed so I could sleep. I worked, I didn't need to do it for long and it passed.
