Small Good Things

  1. On Friday, after the worrying and the phone calls and the drive to the hospital, Tiny Boy's nurse said to me can I get you something?  Since you're breastfeeding, your nourishment is important to his nourishment.  I really could have cried right then.  And happily accepted the offer of a turkey sandwich.
  2. I took LG out for ice cream yesterday while my mom stayed with the boy.  Because not only did her mother not show up for her gymnastics performance on Friday, but she had to be thrown in the car to accompany her brother to the ER.  Why, she said, would I be mad?
  3. I've said it before, but yes that hands-free pumping bra is worth every penny.  I was skeptical, but the damn thing works (and, Bunny, it appears you don't need to get completely naked.  I've been shoving up my t-shirts and pulling down the flaps of my regular nursing bra and putting the pumping bustier on top).
  4. Regular farmer's market Sunday.  Between the four medicines and the catheter mishaps and the diaper changes, routine babycare is sucking up tons of time.  Really nice just to get out of the house--with the baby in actual clothes--if only for an hour.
  5. Crazy ER nights aside, Tiny Boy is sleeping great.  Yes, that might have to do with being on baby vicodin and having surgery.  But he hasn't been slowed down in any way during his waking hours.  So maybe, just maybe, he's figuring out this sleep thing.

  1. *Orders hands free pumping bra* I should have realized there was a whole plan behind this invention! Here's to not having to go to the ER today! Or tomorrow! Long may it remain thus. And oh, LONG may 5 remain thus! I've been thinking of you during my many night wakings these days...

  3. glad to read you are being cared for in some small, but significant ways through this ordeal, mama. And tiny boy sleeping = awesome!
A visit to the farmer's market, in my opinion, can amply restore one's sense of humanity. Glad things are stable enough for you to leave the house.
