So I've got that conference coming up, and I still don't know what to do. Some thoughts:
snort.
- I counted a mere 13 packets of milk in the freezer. To the best of my knowledge, they contain 3-5 ounces each. So, let's say there might be 50 ounces of milk. That's probably about half of what Tiny Boy would need over the course of 3 days.
- Formula might be a possibility. But (a) I don't want to risk him not taking it and (b) given that he may or may not have a problem with dairy (and he's had NO soy exposure, as I am allergic) I'm not sure I want to mess with it and introduce yet another complicating factor into an already complicated night-time situation.
- But. If I could manage to leave him, (a) I might sleep and (b) he might actually start the process of sleep training with his grandmother.
- And the conference would be more enjoyable without the family tagging along.
- But I would miss him and worry about him (yes, I miss LG, too, but she's 8 and, well, I've left her for conferences since she was Tiny Boy's age and somewhere around age 4 it stopped being A BIG DEAL).
snort.
How long until the conference? Do you have time to trail him with a little formula between now and then to see how he takes it and if he has an allergic reaction? Maybe for one of his night time feedings now try giving him a bottle of formula and see how he does with it. It could also help with his sleep if he tolerates it well, as formula helps them "stay full" longer. I don't typically advocate formula over breastmilk, if breastmilk is available, but this might be a situation where it is a good idea as I since you may need the break that this conference can offer you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck. I hope something works out for you.
If you go formula route, it might be best to do it now and then pump for storage for your trip. Take the pain up front, so to speak. You will be a whole new person after sleep. Hoping the conference works out and that you have less to worry with the little dude.
ReplyDeleteMisfit...that hadn't even occurred to me that I could send him to daycare NOW with formula and then use my current milk supply for when I'm gone. Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteBy all means, find out immediately what your options are. Here's hoping he'll have no issues with formula, because if ever there were a good reason to use it, this is one. My limited experience also suggests that it's agony to leave a child behind, but then rather heavenly to be gone. And heavenly to come back, particularly if you've gotten some sleep!
