If I Was Going to Make a Real Website

What would be the best/easiest option?

I do not know HTML.

No, we do not have enough tech support at school for someone to do this for me. I am a program administrator and can't even get someone to help with our program website.  That's a whole other rant.

I took a day long course in Dreamweaver and don't know enough to actually do anything real, though I can make a fake website with fake documents.

Tumblr seems interesting but I don't quite get the point.

Word press?

Mostly I want a space that has a page devoted to bio stuff, a page with links to writing online, and a page devoted to each of my books.

Thank you.

  1. Yes, Wordpress. With a very professional template and stuff you pay for to make it look more professionally done. This: trinityic.org

Done in wordpress - at least to my first glance eye, does NOT look like a blog. Way cheeper than any of the formal Html attempts we made. Way easier for volunteers to help maintain.

  3. I recommend Wordpress if you don't know any HTML, altough it's not very hard to learn the basics.

Start with a simple wordpress.com page, and you can toggle between the code and the WYSIWYG view to teach yourself a little HTML. If/when you are ready you can get the wodpress code (wordpress.org) and host your own site wherever you want. I think you can just pay a touch and use wordpress at any custom domain.

E.g. you can pay to lease gwinnerealname.com and use wordpress.

    Good luck!

  4. Wordpress definitely. You can easily find a template that works for you, and do Pages for bio, etc. If you know the basics, you shouldn't have to pay unless you want something out of the ordinary.
