- I did not burn my oatmeal this morning--in fact it was absolutely perfect--despite the fact that I forgot it on the stove while reading blogs.
- I have a fancy new computer at work, which looks exactly like my old computer with a bigger, shinier screen. While I didn't really NEED a new computer, I have learned not to turn down anything the institution throws my way, because I know there might not be another offer for a very very long time.
- I slept until 7:30 and didn't have any weird dreams about reproduction and/or child death.
- I'm making steady progress on the thing that is supposed to become Book Manuscript #4 (or something). It's an odd genre-less thing that pulls together two of the fields I work in. I read a book, jotted down some more sources from the bib, picked them up, read them, jotted down some more until finally I landed in a theoretical place I didn't really know about. I mean, I'd heard about this place before, but this is so far from the usual theoretical circles I travel in that it's all sparkly and new. I don't really need much of it, but it puts the work I'm doing in a useful context, which is good given that it's such an odd little project.
- My friends, who keep phoning and emailing to check up, indulge me when I say I have a plan to do IVF in October because if that's cancelled I'll get to do it in December even though it's only 11dpo and I have not really peed on a stick.*
The Annoying
- The University Computer Geek set up my computer yesterday. In the process, he noticed that I check my university mail on the web, instead of through Outlook. He asked me if he should set up Outlook (which I used at the SLAC). I said, sure. In the process, it appeared that he deleted all my subfolders (his boss found them). And, now, I am unable to do anything other than READ university email from home on the web. Can't respond. Can't delete. Can't even email the Computer Geeks to fix the problem, which means I will need to make a phone call. Why did I think Outlook was a good idea?
- LG's morning rituals (or dithering). In less than 4 weeks, she needs to be out the door 30 minutes earlier than we usually leave or she will miss her bus. I think this will involve 3 alarm clocks, one to wake me to wake her, one to tell her to get out of my bed, one to tell her she needs to get downstairs for breakfast.
- I am not sure what to do with my Tupperware o' Used Syringes.
- I am not sure how to scan things and get them online for my courses when we are not allowed to use the department scanner, and there is currently no student worker.
- I'm sure there's something else, but I'll leave it as more good than bad. Can I just say I'm tired and want to go back to sleep?
*There is of course a stupid story behind that, which involves peeing on a stick at 9dpo, and if I get a positive beta tomorrow I'll tell you all about it. If not, I'm just a stupid chick who did that thing you are never, ever supposed to do, which is pull a stick out of the trash and read it after 30 minutes. So I guess I just told you about it.
There is a setting in outlook and in your web based email that will have to be checked. I had this issue and hubby fixed it for me. But I dont remember exactly what he did...
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed that the story you didnt tell us ends up with a BFP tomorrow...
