Small Things (Day 39)

(You will notice that these are not small good things. I hope to have some goodness to report later. Mostly I'm still crabby, due to the following:)

  1. A rushed morning. Despite the fact that she woke up early, LG still managed to almost miss the bus. Like, we leave for the bus stop at 8:08, and she didn't start eating breakfast until 7:59. She told me that the only thing that would make her go faster is telling her she won't have dessert if she misses the bus. Not exactly a logical consequence for her actions. I'm thinking more like she'll owe me a dollar every time I need to drive her to school. Other ideas?
  2. I'm spotting. On CD 14. WTF? Once upon a time ago, I did occasionally spot around ovulation, but it wasn't this kind of day-before-a-period spotting. If I have one of those rare two week cycles, I will not be able to cycle again until April. Argh.
  3. Sitting next to a student who smokes. I'm usually able to avoid this. But the student came in late and sat down next to me. So far (knock wood) I don't have a headache.
  4. Feeling like I have too much to do. Somehow, I've gone from being on top of everything to feeling like I need at least five more work hours every week to get things done. Which means I need to find at least five more work hours to get things done. Goodbye relaxing evenings.
Well, at least there are only four.

And now for the sparkly goodness, added at 7:18 pm:
  1. A delightful evening with LG. She used her manners, she turned the TV off when I asked, she worked on her Valentine cards, she read her school book. All peacefully.
  2. My classes continue to go generally well. That doesn't mean I'm not counting down the days, but I am, at least, enjoying the time I spend with both these groups of students.
  3. Dark chocolate raisins and a handful of walnuts as an afternoon snack. I haven't been on the scale in a while (even after replacing the battery, it still doesn't work) but I suspect I'm on the lower side of normal, as I am ravenous in a way that I usually only attribute to progesterone.
  4. It's after seven, on a teaching day, and I don't have a headache. That's the one reason I'm dreading starting Estrace next week. Hormones + conference travel = Very Bad Scene.
  5. I am watching House tonight, regardless of the 10 papers to grade. It's a good thing that Fox is one of the two channels that actually come in.

1 comment:

  1. I can relate. On the days we get up early, we are inevitably later getting out of the house. What is that about?
