- Dinner party last night went as well as it could. Although I realized I do need to buy some more bowls, since many of them were smashed (not intentionally) about a year ago when I fell on top of a box of dishes that shouldn't have been sitting on my bedroom floor. This isn't usually a problem, but when I have 6 extra people in my house and I'm serving veggie chili, it is. But I digress.
- LG gave me the power to choose which toys she was giving away (we have a rule that for each new thing that comes in, an equivalent number goes out). Then she went through the house trying to figure out what I'd trashed (some to be given away, some actual trash). She couldn't, of course. But I took the liberty to get all the junk out of her room (i.e. an empty tissue box, a stack of cardboard tubes, random papers from school) and I, at least, feel better about her sleeping area!
- Spring break, even if it will be filled up with work, is a few days away.
- My ovaries, on Femara, are all a-tingle, but they are not doing that popcorny, ovulate-on- day-8 thing either. For now, let's just say that's good.
- LG and I have asbolutely nowhere we need to be today. The house is clean and the groceries are done (thanks to the dinner guests!). We might just play her paper doll game and dance to pop tunes from the 80s in our jammies.
Updated at 7:13: I decided I need more good things, just to keep it all in perspective.
- LG and I played her Paper Doll Game, which I highly recommend as a birthday gift for girls in the 4-6 age range. Then LG decided I should use the spinner to instruct her on what to wear today, which was a pretty typical LG ensemble, consisting of a red v-neck sweatshirt, floral print tights, and a ruffled mini skirt.
- LG and I played Lite Brite, which I remember liking as a kid. You know what? I still do. (Although I suspect stepping on little colored pegs will get tiresome very quickly!)
- This afternoon, I took LG to Burger King so she could run amok and I could get some work done, because we were going a bit stir crazy at home. Then LG invited the neighbor child over which, again, gave me an hour in which to work. I still need to do at least another hour tonight, but I should go into the week feeling somewhat on top of things.
- I have already made the lunches for tomorrow.
- Students who write papers I don't expect. I love it when I actually learn from reading student work.
lite brights! I totally forgot about those...
ReplyDeleteI hope you and LG got to enjoy some 80s music in your pjs. I love the image.
Good luck this week!
I know! It's crazy what kid stuff is still around that we had when we were kids...
