Yeah, so what I didn't say in my last post is that I pretty much haven't stopped crying--except when I was sleeping and getting LG ready for school--since last night. I don't think I've been this spazzy since around 12 weeks.
I contemplated calling my old therapist and asking her for a rec for someone who might just take Crappy New Insurance. I contemplated calling acupuncturist #1 so she could stick a needle in the top of my head. I contemplated calling a friend but decided really no one I know IRL gets this, as sympathetic as they might be.
I settled for calling my OB's office. And they brought me in for a fetal heartrate/maternal blood pressure/mental health check because, as the nurse said, a week is too long. Agreed.
So I had a nice chat with one of my OB's partners. And got to listen to the boy's heart thundering away. And I was told that what I'm feeling is completely normal given my history and if I'm ever just filled with dread to call them and they'll bring me in and stick me on the monitor for a while.
I also got a reminder that I really do need to call them if I have regular contractions.
All that and a free flu shot.
You think I'll get any writing done today?
I just got back & started catching up with blogs--I'm so sorry you're back in the throes of terror. Hang in there--you're so close, and while you may be scared, it IS normal, given your history. It is NOT, however, any indication of how this pregnancy is progressing. Because it does sound like your little guy is doing great, and it sounds like your OBs are doing a fine job of squeezing you in just to be sure--which you're totally entitled to take advantage of! Hang tough. Almost there, and you WILL have a lovely little man to show for all this worry. Wishing this just wasn't so hard, because really, at this point, the ONLY thing you should have to worry about is how you're going to get out of any given chair gracefully. :) Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean here. I was convinced at week 38 that it couldn't possibly happen. That was someone else's life. Hang in there ... take deep breaths ... and call your OB early and often. You're not a bother. So take advantage of it.

Ah, gwinne. I like the practical solutions route: the nurse saying COME ON IN and let's check you out and what about maybe taking a regular yoga class where you do alternate poses for the tricky belly ones? Thus no overt commentary on "normal" pregnancy crap. This may be a dumb question, but is xanax ever appropriate in pregnancy? I'm not trying to minimize what you're experiencing, just wondering if a stop-gap measure could provide some relief. And f- the writing today. Your mental health is more important.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, yeah, I might go back to my regular yoga class. You know...to do YOGA and not talk about pregnancy matters. And I don't know about xanax specifically...but the doctor did say that if things get really out of control that medication of some sort is a possibility. Not that I really want to do that.... this poor baby has been medicated enough!
