Winding Down

I have 3 papers left to grade.  Unfortunately I continue to use the method I devised in graduate school, which means I always leave the BAD ones for the end.  I know they are bad because I skim and put them in rough order and comment on the GOOD ones first, you know, to gauge just how bad the bad ones are.  This leads to upleasantness later on.

I sent my final manuscript (The Baby Book, due late 2015!) to my editor today.  That just means I am down to two books-in-progress (not counting things at their beginning stages).  One needs to have material turned around in the next few weeks (but depends on my collaborator); the other I can finally focus on (again) next semester.

I wrote a letter of rec today.  That leaves only three more, which I will do those early days of exam week, before all my grading comes in.

So I teach tomorrow.  And then will do some misc admin work on Wed morning and then lay in bed reading a novel or something.

  1. I stand in awe of your prolific writing record. Wow.

What are you going to read in bed? :)

  2. Thank you. I don't know if I'm actually prolific or just hit a moment in my career when a lot of projects long in the works have finally found homes. I do write quickly, though, and that helps to have a bunch of things in various stages of completion.

A colleague lent me Dear Committee Member which I really want to like, but I don't. So not that. Might go back to A.M. Homes or Meg Wolitzer.
