A Change of Scenery

It's a "heavy" nonteaching day, as far as these things go. I need to finish grading the papers (that whole plan stalled out over the weekend, as I sat obsessing about the goings on in my ovaries). I need to get this article finished (well, I *could* send it off next week, but I'd rather have it off my plate this week, which means today, as I need to write a student letter of rec on Thursday). And I need to finish rereading the memoir I'm teaching (or, at the very least, go through it and jot down passages I want to discuss). And part of my afternoon will be taken up with a trip to my neurologist (yeah, it's one of those weeks when I'm seeing a neurologist, a reproductive endocrinologist [his nurses, at least, times two], and the chiropractor).

But after not sleeping Saturday and Sunday and taking heavy-hitting migraine meds last night, I'm zonked. So I decided to move my home office to Panera, where I might make use of their WiFi (instead of crappy university dial-up, which I have because it is FREE), drink coffee with actual caffeine, and work on this article. It's sunny, despite the snow. There are other people drinking coffee and scratching their heads, looking at books. Sometimes it's nice not to feel so alone.

And as for the goings on in my ovaries: my ultrasound yesterday showed *nothing*. Absolutely no change from my baseline sonogram. The doctor is certain I had a false positive on the OPK, bringing me in for monitoring on Thursday. I'm certain he's wrong. All is too quiet on the ovarian front. I guess we'll see who's right in a few days.

Update from Panera: The revisions to the body of the essay are completely finished. All parenthetical documentation has been shifted (annoyingly) to endnotes. Works cited has been eliminated and integrated into endnotes. Now I just need to make sure all the end notes are actually in Chicago style, as opposed to some weird MLA-Chicago hybrid.

It's too cold to sit here comfortably any longer. So I'll head home, grade some papers, work on the essay, grade some papers, go to the neurologist, grade some papers, etc.
