Random Bullets of Thanksgiving Weekend

  • This is the first Thanksgiving I haven't gone home since I moved out of my house. I usually spend the day after Thanksgiving with my best friend, L. This, in effect, winds up being a birthday celebration. Thank you, L, for the unexpected but much welcome 2-hour chat on Saturday!
  • LG "bought" me a chocolate-colored sweater for my birthday. It is the softest thing I have ever owned. And the color is oddly flattering on me. I would consider buying many more in other colors, except I'd rather assume I'll be wearing maternity clothes in a few months.
  • For once, my period showed up with perfect timing [after five days of spotting!]. Although I wished to take a pregnancy test today, it feels good to move on to cycle #4.
  • Because LG has food allergies, we had to have a "safe" (and therefore tasteless) chocolate cake on my birthday. At least my mother baked it this year, instead of me. My treat to myself will be a piece of fancy cake from a local bakery sometime this week.
  • This is the first Thanksgiving dinner I cooked in my own home. It turned out great! (Except I forgot to put out the cranberry sauce that I made *from scratch*! And I neglected to make gravy [which my family never has, so that's not much of an oversight]) The best recipe [as in the best thing I have ever cooked!] was the pear crisp. Yum-O. I will be eating leftovers for breakfast all this week (I mean, it's just really sweet oatmeal with fruit, right?)
  • Visit with family was quite enjoyable, despite the fact that we were all sick (colds) and sleep deprived.
  • LG and I went sledding today on her new saucer. Then I chased her around the park and we had a snowball fight, at her request.

Now, alas, it's back to the stack of papers and the Sunday ritual of the making of the lunches.
