Superstitions and Lucky Charms

  1. I read John Barth's "Night Sea Journey," narrated from the point of view of a sperm, sitting in the waiting room today.
  2. I brought baby socks (thanks L!) and a fertility god keychain with me for the IUI.
  3. I wore my Fertility Socks, which have lovely coffee cups on them. That's the last of the coffee for a while.
  4. I ate Indian food, which I did when I conceived in May.
  5. I had dinner with the same friend I saw the day I conceived in May.
  6. It's August 2. 2 is my favorite number (though 2002 really sucked, so maybe I should rethink that).
  7. I ovulated on the right ovary, which is how I conceived LG (my miscarriages have been lefties).

And for the actual important stuff: Well timed IUI. 2 beautiful follicles. Fabulous sperm count (for once!). As Dr. Gorgeous put it when she called me yesterday to talk about the plan, "It's perfect." Thanks, Dr. G, for giving up part of your Sunday evening to talk and try to get me knocked up. Let's hope we don't need that backup plan for IVF #1, Take 2, sans microdose lupron, later this fall.

  2. I feel like I'm a creature of habit when cycling too, like I need to eat X, and it has to be on Saturday, and my left ovary has to ovulate, etc.

    Wishing you all good things...
