I had a 24 hour period, basically from yesterday morning until I talked to Dr. G this morning, when I was doing GREAT. I ended up emailing Dr. G a list of my concerns over the weekend, just so she could have something in front of her when we talked. Got a call from the nurse yesterday, saying Dr. G got my message and would give me a call and, in the meantime, she wanted me to have day 2 FSH/E2 done.
The upshot of our conversation: she agreed that putting me on the pill that long would be a very very bad idea, and she'd like to try 7 days of Ganirelix leading directly up to stims (no BCP of any kind). Theoretically, that sounds great, a much less aggressive suppression than what she tried last time. But I looked at the calendar...and I don't see it happening, in that my luteal phase probably won't happen when it needs to happen (which is why the Nurse I Don't Like had suggested BCP in the first place). So, I'm awaiting a return phone call to revisit the plan.
Other things we talked about trying: a high (good) fat, high protein diet; acupuncture; using Follistim instead of Gonal F, and splitting my dose morning and night.
I feel better than I did talking to the nurse last Friday. But I'm still really anxious. Sigh.
sending positive vibes...
ReplyDeleteSorry you are feeling anxious. I, too, am sending positive vibes... and a small distraction in the form of a question. Why did they suggest switching from Gonal-F to Follistim? It was my understanding they were basically the same. The reason I ask is because my doc had talked about using whichever one my insurance company prefers. (It didn't matter last cycle because my prescription coverage was maxed but I have since upgraded my plan.)
ReplyDeleteOrdinarily, Dr. Gorgeous prefers to use Gonal F, but she said some patients do better on one or the other (she said something about Follistim being more potent?).
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Thanks.
