Small Good Things

  1. My official work week is done. That's not to say I'm done working--especially considering the stack of papers I need to grade by Monday--but this is one of those weeks I feel particularly grateful to have a Mon/Wed teaching schedule. Because yesterday? Just freaking brutal (take my Monday schedule and then add a campus event until 8:30 at night).
  2. I'm done with the ridiculously early morning drive to Dr. Gorgeous's office, at least for a month; for now let's at least pretend that this cycle will work and I'll be done with THAT drive for good. I'll gladly take a lazy non-teaching afternoon drive for an OB ultrasound with her.
  3. Ganirelix. Headache? Yeah, that sucks. But a drug that will prevent me from needing an IUI on a day that the office is closed? Thanking my lucky stars.
  4. The campus event last night--one that I was "in charge" of--went off without a hitch. I will happily organize a similar event in the future.
  5. Snuggling with LG in the morning. When she was little, like 2, she called it "cuggling," which I just adored. She still likes to curl up in bed with me, and her real kitty cat, and her stuffed dog. It's really hard to kick her out so she can get dressed, and we missed our time two days this week, as I was already up and dressed before I woke her.
  6. [Who says I need to stop at 5?] My belated state tax refund, which will cover the extra, uhh, expenses for this cycle. Ditto the fact that I no longer pay roughly $800/month for daycare (hooray for public schools!). It's nice to be able to pay large bills without taking money out of my rapidly dwindling savings account.
  7. The day of Injectable Drugs! 30 prefilled syringes for Lovenox and 4 more Follistim cartridges. I am set, people. And frankly I could open a small pharmacy out of my living room, or supply all the drug users in town with clean needles. If I were a less ethical person, of course. If only I had an appropriate sharps container for these goodies.
  8. The best student paper I have read all semester. It's from a smart student who clearly did not live up to her full potential on the first paper. Oh my goodness. Made my afternoon.
  9. Estrogen. Not the little blue pill kind, just the natural kind pumped out by my waking-up-ovaries. Makes me all shimmery and light (not to mention that I'd like to hunt down my ex for an afternoon rendezvous!) Ahem.
  10. Coffee shop grading. Makes me miss grad school. And my first job, when I graded papers at a Borders halfway between my apartment and the fertility clinic (1.5 hrs away). I need to remember that as solitary and introverted as I am, sometimes it's nice just to have a little noise, the buzz of caffeine (other people drinking it, not me!), and the slow shared hum of brains at work.

  1. Just read your quick ovarian update! Two sounds good for an IUI!

One can never have too many sharps containers. Oh how I love a new sharps container!

A Monday IUI sounds fantastic. :)
