Would I be completely crazy to try an unmedicated IUI this month?
The cycle I conceived LG I was benched due to a cyst/elevated E2 level. I asked my RE if I could just try a monitored/unmedicated cycle and she said, well, you know, that could work.
She was right.
Crazy? If you've got the money to spend on the sperm, I say no.

Er - that's no, not crazy, not no you shouldn't.
You know, I'm with you - I think the medication we get put on is wonderful because sometimes it works, but for some of us, it doesn't work all that well. Seems to me like an egg maturing in a non-medicated environment will be healthier, and that probably your lining will be healthier as well. No IUI experience, but comparing to FET? In a second I'd go with unmedicated. Just my two cents...
