I just got a rejection letter. One of the most demoralizing things I have ever read, especially because this editor really led me to believe she'd publish my book if only I made a few small changes. I feel doubly slapped in the face.
I'd go home and cry for the next two hours before LG gets home but there's a department thing I need to be at momentarily. I haven't been this crushed since, well, the post-IVF debacle.
And I've already cried myself into a migraine. Great.
Hi! I found a true sister... except I haven't managed to get #1 yet. But the same -- a college prof and dealing with infertility.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your rejection letter. I'm in the sciences, so my rejections perhaps come much more often, given that we turn smaller things out more often rather than giving "birth" to big things like books. I could share some recent grant proposal rejections that are actually so awful that my graduate students started laughing...
love, inBetween
Oh hell. Rejection letters suck so bad, and from someone who led you on? Been there, and it sucks especially much. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteOh hon... I'm so sorry :(
