- LG. Despite the crabbies and difficult patches, she is unquestionably my best thing. I think often these days about what could have happened if I took the advice of everyone who told me that 29 was too young to become an SMC... I certainly wouldn't have LG, and I might not have a kid at all.
- I'm healthy. I can't remember the last time I saw the neurologist, but I think it was May. Or maybe it was November. But the point is there was a time I needed to go every 2-3 months to check in and get drug refills. And I don't anymore. I don't have the chronic daily headache anymore. And The Headache largely makes its appearance in time with my cycle.
- My mama is an incredible help and support, even if the kinds of support she can give are limited. She's retiring in the spring, and I expect we'll be seeing much more of her next year.
- My brother is a stable, responsible adult. Both genetics and environment say that he shouldn't be, but he is.
- My sister is doing okay. As in, not currently in the hospital for either mental or physical health reasons. And that's as good as it gets.
- A's son is sloooowly getting better, she thinks.
- A is still chipper and a great sounding board for me, despite all she's dealing with.
- L always brightens my day. And she takes great pictures. Someone should pay her to take pictures. I can't wait to see her in a couple weeks and hang out. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't see her everytime I went "home."
- M, who cracks me up everytime she calls to ask if there's anything going on with the "secret plan." She's the kind of friend you can have over for a spontaneous dinner and not worry about the state of the house. Everyone needs a friend like that.
- My good students, who challenge me in the best ways.
- The set of evaluations I read from my gen ed class last spring which rocked. More than 75% of them said I should be nominated for a teaching award, which, when I'm being obejective, completely negates and overrides every small bad thing any other student has ever said about me.
- The snow has stopped for the time being. (I might take a picture of my house later. It's like Christmas out there!)
- I'm seeing Dr. Gorgeous on Tuesday. I'm a little anxious to be back there, but mostly I think it's time to get started again.
- The bloat or whatever that was is now gone, and I'm just a pound over my normal weight, which might be the result of buying a new scale, nothing more. And, frankly, that extra pound is probably good for conception anyway.
- I did not drink the last of the vodka last night, or order a pizza, or indulge in any self-destructive behavior other than watching a stupid movie that arrived courtesy of Netflix.
- I slept the entire night and woke to birds!
- LG and I are not going out in the world today, except to buy a few ingredients for a dinner party tonight.
- My cat slept next to my head last night, which is always nice, and much more comfortable than her usual location on my body, which is like being pregnant with a 9.5 pound being, which would never happen in my real life.
- Yesterday I did not need to shove anything up my you-know-where other than a tampon.
- I know it's a huge cliche, but everything is always better in the morning.

Small Good Things (Day 58)
I spent last night stewing over all the bad things, which I will not reiterate here. Instead, I'm going to come up with as much goodness as I can, before making LG a pancake breakfast (assuming she actually wants pancakes, as I don't eat them).

ReplyDeleteI'm sending a big hug!! As Scarlett O'Hara said, there's always tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteSince I knew I wanted to be an SMC all along, I really wish I hadn't waited past my 29th birthday. (I didn't have my first until I was 38) Good for you for following your dreams early!
