"Thankfully, Dr. Gorgeous has been willing to entertain my next cycle questions even though beta isn't until tomorrow. It appears we've entered a new phase of our relationship, which is that she asks me what I want to do, I tell her I can't make decisions anymore so please make them for me, and then I actually listen. In this case, that would be doing a straight Menopur cycle, which was the thing I thought I never wanted to do. But the situation can't really get any worse, can it? (Don't answer that!)."
Well, the answer is obviously yes. First time I've had a lone follicle on a medicated cycle since March 2009, which was the first cycle I did with Dr. G. Looking at IUI #14 Thursday (likely) or Friday. If it's Thursday maybe Dr. Gorgeous will do the damn thing herself before/after/during our consult, in which I tell her I am never going near Menopur again. Gee, anyone think that might be why I didn't stim so well during IVF? I'm sad that this cycle is likely to be a bust. But I don't regret listening to Dr. G on this one; even if it's not the outcome we both desired, this is information we really needed. This whole thing just sucks, you know?
You know way more about the drugs than I do. I was prescribed gonal-f along with menopur. At one point my dr. was going to put me on follistim, which is essentially, I think, a combination of the two. Would you do better on menopur if it was paired with gonal-f?
ReplyDeleteso sorry that you didn't respond well on menopur. And it particularly sucks that this was the one where you decided to acquiesce to the dr's idea. It does totally suck.

ReplyDeleteActually, Follistim is basically the same thing as Gonal-F. (They're both pure FSH, and Menopur has FSH + LH). I used Gonal F + Menopur during my first IVF cycle, and Follistim + Menopur my second attempt. The problem is that I might as well be injecting myself with water instead of Menopur. It does *nothing* in terms of stimulating follicles for me.
ReplyDeleteand very expensive water at that... I'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteThankfully my drug coverage is great. I know you're still awaiting beta (fingers crossed!), but if you need to do another cycle and need Menopur, let me know, I have A TON that I won't be using.
