Ha! You know what? Sounds like maybe you really needed that. Do you feel okay about it?
Haven't posted in a while. But I meant to congratulate you on the, er, promotion. I know you don't have the letter yet, but if your chair (or whatever) tells you it's looking good, then that's enough for me! My husband is chair of our dept and trust me, he doesn't say anything like that unless he's sure. And I'm really thrilled about your upcoming DE transfer. I have every finger and toe crossed for you.
And another thing I've meant to say: even though you're anonymous (and hence it's probably easier to be "exposed" on a blog), I still really appreciate your honesty in your posts. I think some of the anxiety you've felt is probably very symptomatic of academe. I realize you've been going through a lot, but I've never known an academic who was sanguine. About anything. Thanks for making me feel not so alone. :)
Hey, Rebecca. Thank you so much. I don't really think of my blog as "honest" (not that it's dishonest, or course!) so much as just what "personal" blogs do. I do wonder sometimes about boundaries, about what I'm willing to say here and not (some of it is complicated by having a few regular readers who know me in "real life"). I feel like I'm hijacking my own comments here, so feel free to email me at gwinne at yahoo dot com if you want to chat more...
