More observations (19w4d)

  • I often joke that there's Gwinne speed, there's fast, there's normal speed, there's slow, and then there's LG.  I think right now I'm hovering somewhere around slow.  It's not bad, just different.  I'm getting things done, it's just taking me longer to get there.
  • Sometimes I think if Dr. Gorgeous could see me right now--not a nervous wreck, not 97 pounds with a pinched look on my face--she'd be astonished.
  • Yesterday was better in terms of contractions.  Of course I also drank 100+ ounces of liquid (4 refills of a 24 ounce water bottle, plus orange juice and decaf for breakfast).  And went to the bathroom what seemed like every 30 seconds.  I also sat the whole time during class, which might be what I need to do, even if bounching around the room is my usual strategy.
  • BPF brought over some maternity and baby clothes yesterday, and I did not flip out.  Most of the maternity things don't/won't fit (she's about 5 inches taller than me) but whatever I don't have to buy is a good thing.  And the baby stuff?  Well, what is it about newborn size onesies that just melt my heart.
  • Tomorrow is what normal pregnant people call the "big" ultrasound.  I am completely freaked out.
  • LG asked if we can buy the baby some clothes once we know if it's a boy or a girl.  I'm not inclined to buy a whole lot of crap, given that I've got a fair amount saved and friends with toddlers keep giving me things, but, yeah, I think we could buy a little outfit.
  • On the not-pregnant side of things, I got a small bit of good news in terms of the ongoing tenure drama, which made me slightly less full of rage toward my chair.  And that's good, because rage and pregnancy really don't mix.

  1. You have no idea how happy I am to see you doing so well. Nearly 20 weeks? Yowza! The time has just flown! (For me, of course. You're probably in that 'I've been pregnant forever and WILL be pregnant forever' time warp, right about now.) Thinking of you & reading everytime you post, even if I'm lazy about commenting.

I will be thinking about you tomorrow when you are enjoying the show!
