Small Good Things (22w6d)

  1. The "driving" farmer's market (as LG calls it, to distinguish it from the one we walk to):  we've got squash, tomatoes, greens, cucumbers, corn, and enough blueberries that I'm tempted to bake (if only it wasn't a zillion degrees outside).  I've always liked the market, but I especially like not being envious of the pregnant women and those with tiny babies.
  2. LG has really learned to swim.  I mean, last summer she swam well enough that I didn't worry about her drowning in deep water or anything, but this year she has actual technique.  She's learning butterfly and breaststroke in lessons, and diving like a (7-year-old) pro.
  3. Last night we had dinner with A and kids.  A's son is just about 19 mo, and it was really fun seeing LG interact with him.  And in exchange for the return of my convertible carseat, I gave A a big box o' size 6ish girls clothes.  All that, good food, good conversation, and an evening in an air conditioned home.  Yahoo!
  4. Pie. (Yes, there is a food theme here.)  I'm reading a memoir about a pie inspired roadtrip, and serendipitously there happens to be a pie festival of sorts in our general area. While I really don't have anything resembling "cravings" (and frankly didn't with LG either), pie sounds mighty good. As soon as I stop typing, LG and I are going on a pie quest!
  5. I returned the doppler yesterday.  I decided it just wasn't worth the $50, given how infrequently I've been using it lately.  The boy is so wiggly it's actually very hard to find his heartbeat, much more so than when he was small.  But given his intrauterine gymnastics and my steadily growing belly, I'm reasonably assured that he's doing okay in there.  At least enough to get me through to my next OB app't in 6 days.
Have a good afternoon, everyone!  Must find pie!

  1. Pie, yum. Did it satisfy your craving? Glad the boy is so wiggly and reassuring. I'm starting to want to meet him, so I can only imagine what you're feeling!

  2. Pie fest was pretty lame, actually. Turned out to be less a festival than a large room with some crafts and a single table with
pie for sale, most of which came from a local franchise. Not exactly what I had in mind but also a fine way to spend a summer afternoon...

Of course, LG ate enough to make herself sick!

  3. That does sound like a bit of a letdown. Fresh-baked pie is the best. Do you gals have a diner or something near you? Poor LG! (unfortunately reminds me of that scene in Stand by Me)
