Weekend Mishmash (21w0d)

  • LG received a package in the mail yesterday with two t-shirts from her Auntie L and Uncle E, who have started selling their wares on Etsy (link forthcoming with their permission!).  They're both variations on "be happy," which LG insists helps her remain cheerful.  Must do more to test out that theory...
  • Today I reached the breaking point with LG's bedroom (I literally couldn't walk without tripping on toys and dirty clothes and all kinds of nonsense).  When she ended up in tears because I asked her to clean for 15 minutes (horrible mother!), I just threw everything I was tired of seeing on the floor into a giant basket and told her if she wants anything from it she can take it out and put it where it actually goes.  And if she doesn't, I reserve the right to put it all in the trash.
  • It's been a weekend of swimming.  Yesterday, the local beach with kid-and-mom friends, and today the actual pool.  I think I might need to buy a new swimsuit, as my breasts are pretty close to popping out of my current one.  The other pregnant women at the pool were (a) not in swimsuits, (b) in bikinis that showed off various tatoos, or (c) in overly large swimdress things.  Whatever shall I do?
  • I do not think I will survive 5 or so more days of this heat.  Our house is currently 82 degrees.  Ugh.  The good thing is that I know generally there are less than 10 days per year when I feel like I actually want air conditioning, and that's really not enough to warrant spending thousands of dollars on AC, in my opinion.  So I just have to suck it up and deal with it.
  • The Boy seems to sleep for most of the day and move around when I lay down in the evening.  He also does this (somewhat painful) thing where he seems to scrunch in a very tiny ball at the very top of my uterus.  You can actually see a hard, raised lump there, and I'm sure it's not a contraction because the rest of my uterus stays soft.  He doesn't stay that way long (perhaps he's rolling over?) but I have to say it's really weird and uncomfortable and definitely nothing I experienced with LG.  He also jumps when LG gets LOUD but I'm not sure whether he's responding to the actual noise or to my elevated heartrate...
  • On Tuesday I think I'm going to visit Dr. Gorgeous, as she'll be in town and I won't have to drive.  I'm kinda freaked out about it, but I also think it's something I need to do, as the last time I saw her was quite full of angst (the day she diagnosed the bad sac problem).  At her request, I've been giving her pretty regular updates, and she said she'd love to see me.  I'm not entirely sure why I'm hesitant, beyond the whole specter of loss and sad resurfacing when I'm really doing pretty well.
Because I am doing well, all things considered.  And on that note, I'm going to put Crabby Kid to bed so I can read for class...

  1. I don't know how much coverage you do/don't want with a maternity swimsuit, but I searched high and low before finding this tank suit online made by Prego Maternity (we'll just skip a discussion of the unfortunate company name, 'kay?): http://www.swimwearformaternity.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1024&Category_Code=Maternity-One-Piece-Swimsuit&Store_Code=swimwear

It's pretty basic but quite flattering, due to the empire waist. In fact, it may be the best swimsuit I've ever had. Wore it from month 4 through the end. Pricy but worth it.

In fact, if it doesn't sound too weird, I'd send you my old one now that I don't need it anymore, but it'd probably be too big for you. Send me an email--if you can--if you're interested and want the particulars.
