Tiny Boy wore a lovely hand-me-down sweatshirt featuring a moose (did we get that from you, S?) to his 2-month well visit today. Turns out it was appropriate; my little 5 lb boy is now a whopping 8 lbs 13 oz, 21.5 in long. Which places him in the 5th percentile for weight and height; 10th for head circumference. Pretty great, considering he was less than the 3rd at birth.
But holy shit were his vaccines traumatizing. You'd think I'd be prepared; I mean, I have an almost 8-year-old. But I was not ready for that cry. Not feed me. Not my belly hurts. This was I-have-never-hurt-this-much-in-my-life crying that stopped his breathing for what seemed like forever. He fell asleep nursing in the exam room and hasn't woken up in almost 2 hrs, which might be the longest nap he's taken not strapped to my chest.
Overall, the ped was really happy with his progress. Put him on Zantac to try to deal with the choking/milk-out-the-nose situation; said if it doesn't work after a week or so we can adjust his dose or pull him off. At his next visit, she wants to talk about what to do about his hypospadias, which gives me a deadline to think about that.
It was just this time last year that I had my last IUI and got the ball rolling for DE. And now I've got an 8-week-old. Just...wow.
Yay for your not-so-little peanut turning into a big moose baby!
ReplyDeleteYou know, if I'm not misremembering, my brother had a hypospadias corrected when he was a baby/toddler. And while I certainly wouldn't be comfortable asking him 'how's it hanging these days?' he's certainly had no trouble in the reproductive department. I'll ask my mom about how the actual surgery went the next time we talk, see if she remembers anything good/bad/ugly about it.
Yay for your little man growing!! I can't imagine how traumatic the shots are... it sounds like you both handled it well.
ReplyDeleteOh you dear woman. I feel for Tiny but my heart breaks for you. This was your first 2 hour nappers with him unattached???
ReplyDeleteWhen you get up in the night and stumble to get him - think of my cheering you on. Go Momma go!
