- Snow. I really do like the snow. I mean, apparently it took the absence of snow, when I lived in That Southern State, to figure out just how much I need snow, but there it is. Heck, I even like shoveling the snow, that chilled cheek feeling and coming in the house and drinking hot chocolate. Which I did both yesterday and today while LG sat with her brother.
- Although we have not had a repeat of nap-in-the-crib, yesterday did involve a relatively long nap-in-carseat. Unfortunately, it had to take a round of screaming in the car on the way to the grocery store, coming back home sans groceries for another feeding (you know, because apparently we're doing it every hour now) and diaper change and going back out again for him to fall asleep, but I'll take it.
- Set up a coffee date with my friend/former grad student this week, which generally gets me motivated to work on things.
- Speaking of which, I watched the latest episode of Private Practice on hulu last night and have decided I need to write about Addison's fertility quest. That seems like a good way to getting back into the whole essay writing business, and it's more than obliquely related to a book project that I described in my going-up-for-tenure professional accomplishments document. So while not the book project I'm supposed to be working on, any work is good work, right?
- Tiny Boy is finally able to wear the few new items I picked out for him before birth, as well as much of the hand-me-down stuff that friends sent our way. When I look at those preemie outfits that fit him his first 3 weeks or so, I am simply astonished at how small he was. Fucking scary small. Now, he feels like a solid baby rather than something incredibly fragile. I figure he's probably hit 9 lbs in the past day or so! (Give him a few weeks, and he'll be able to take on the cats!)

ReplyDeleteWhen we look at Goldie's preemie outfits we can't believe we weren't more scared. They scare me now!
