I have really mixed feelings about Sundays.
I used to have much more of the Sunday night panic, when for example I was teaching two courses on Mondays (not to mention driving to Dr. Gorgeous's office for monitoring).
But I still have a sense of urgency and things not getting done. (Okay, this is especially true today, as I have three night events this week [I'm in charge of two of them], two lunchy things [with visiting writers], an extra committee meeting, and a diss defense, on top of the usuals.)
And if we're in the house and the kids are making a mess, on top of the existing mess, I go a bit crazy. Sunday tends to involve large amounts of domestic work (today I think I did at least three loads of laundry, plus cooked some stuff, did the dishes, and swept the floors. felt like I was always running up and down the stairs putting things away).
Then there's the more pleasant parts of Sundays: finding caterpillars, taking walks, going to the park. Today Tiny Boy played in our backyard. It occurred to me that he's at an age I can leave him out there for a bit (it's fenced) and watch him play from the kitchen or porch.
I'll say it again: life on the other side is pretty damn good. But I'm certainly not sitting around all day eating bonbons...
