Small Good Things

  1. Finally spoke with the andrologist. She suggested having 4 ART specimens on hand, and we'll hopefully use only 2-3. She's checking with Dr. Gorgeous to see if back-to-back IUIs would be a better plan. This is going to be one expensive IUI, with the specimens, the bloodwork (insurance doesn't pay for monitoring, just diagnostic bloodwork), and the possibility of 2 IUIs. But this is my last shot with LG's donor, and assuming I have 2+ follicles, I'm willing to invest in it.
  2. I went to a poetry reading last night. Let me just say WOW. The best reading I've attended in, like, 2 years, hands down. Just left me all shimmery inside, even with The Headache. Must go to the library and fetch more books!
  3. Drugs. I'd like to live in a body that could be healed by natural methods alone. But when it comes to The Headache, drugs are a very good thing. Bless you Amerge, bless you Anaprox, bless you Fioricet. Without you, I couldn't have slept last night. Without you, I couldn't get out of bed today and do my work.
  4. Good working morning. ~1000 words already, and I have a sense of how this larger piece might be structured (most of it is written already).
  5. The best decaf coffee ever, complete with cream and sugar. I've decided I'm not giving up decaf this cycle, as it hasn't done me a damn bit of good, and I like my coffee. I am, however, eating walnuts daily. I'm getting my good fatty acids in, as I'm being paranoid about natural killer cells and they are on my list of good foods, from both Dr. G and the acupuncturist.

I'm in a good place. LG's in a good place. And that's just nice.

  1. Sounds like a good 24 hours or so. Which is a rather large good thing! Walnuts, eh? I'd be interested in your list of good foods - because something new to obsess over, is a good thing for me right now!

  2. S...you SO don't need anything more to obsess over!! But Dr. G wants all her patients taking high dose vitamin c and omega 3s, in addition to all the usuals (and she told me in particular to go for high fat, high protein diet [within reason]). I got the walnut idea from reading Randine Lewis's book on infertility and acupuncture (there's a quiz that will tell you what your "deficiencies" are and a list of foods that work to correct them). I read a study that suggests Omega 3s are good for dealing with natural killer cell problems, so walnuts seem to be good all around!

I'm not sure if I'm going to do your pineapple thing. I vaguely remember something about pineapple having anti-coagulant effects, and I doubt combining that with aspirin and heparin is a good thing for me, as my clotting times have gotten wonky in the past on aspirin.
