Small Good Things (Day 43)

I'm starting to freak out (work, ttc, the usual drama), so here's a round of small good things to keep my mood up:

  1. I got two short manuscripts in the mail (well, as soon as I go to the post office) and wrote cover letters for the book manuscript. Unfortunately, I realized that the corrected version of my writing sample is on campus computer, so I email the cover letters to myself, instead of the intended recipients, so I remember to add the right attachment on Monday. This is work I dread and loathe, so I deserve quite the pat on the back for getting it done.
  2. In this year of living gracefully, I did not send a snarky reply to my senior colleague, whose email deserved a snarky reply. Instead, I cussed her out while I was in the shower and washed all that snarkiness down the drain with the shampoo.
  3. My yoga teacher. She's just one of those people with wonderful energy that I could stay around forever.
  4. Two obligations were cancelled this afternoon, which is nice, because I'm sort of freaking out about LG's party tomorrow and the current state of our house.
  5. LG's daycare. LG's school is closed today--she gets 3 freaking days of for President's Day/mid-winter break--but thankfully as a kindergartener she can still go back to her old daycare. So worth that $45 for me to be able to get things done, and for her to play with her friends. (Of course, that also meant I needed to bake cake #3 last night!)

  1. I really like your blog because you tell it like it is. Sometimes I get tired of putting on a happy face and telling everyone that my life as an SMC is a piece of cake. Thanks for helping me remember to keep it real.
PS. Can empathize about the birthday stress--both my boys have theirs this month--I think I'm throwing six parties total!

  2. Lara, thanks so much for your comment! It's certainly not easy being an SMC--heck, it's not easy being a parent at all!--but I wouldn't have it any other way. How old are your boys?
