I think we slept better last night, in that I feel somewhat human today, and capable of putting together a sentence. That was not the case yesterday.
Still, I know for a fact Tiny Boy was awake (at least partially awake--enough to move him back and forth from crib to bed to crib) once an hour from 1:00 on. He clearly wants to sleep in his own bed right now, which is fine with me. But it would be nice if he didn't need maternal intervention every 40 minutes to do it.
At one point the night before last I actually started sobbing while holding him in the rocking chair and he just laughed. Thanks, kid.
So we're off to the pediatrician today. Not our usual pediatrician but one that I like well enough* and I'm hoping that if she is clueless she will at least ask our regular ped about melatonin or seeing a sleep specialist at the med school or something.
Now I'm off to take LG to camp and then do something resembling work.
* she was the ped we saw when Tiny Boy was born and she was absolutely fascinated by the whole DS/DE combo and said something like "so it's like you were a surrogate only he's your son" that would have struck me as massively offensive had I not been on massive amounts of narcotics. But mostly she was just worried that we'd have enough support when we got home so I could make enough milk and I thank her for letting us stay in the hospital one extra day so Tiny Boy, all 4 lbs 12 oz of him, looked like he might have gained 1/2 an ounce.

I cannot imagine this place, and yet with a newborn, I can see my sanity slipping by the minute. This may be a dumb question, but did you ever read the happiest baby? I swear by the womb sounds to calm my dragon and lull her into sleep.
ReplyDeleteYup. We've got those 5s down.
ReplyDeleteWorked great for a long while to get him to sleep. Not so much anymore. Now he resists swaddling, rocking, etc.
Both the babysitter and I think the ridiculously loud noise of our window air conditioner helps keep him asleep, though. I'm trying to find a similar white noise device...
