Random Bullets of April

  • This is the month of way too many events at school at night.  And a friend/colleague in a related department keeps asking me to go to dinner/drinks and I keep saying no.  That 5:00-6:00 hour is just fucking impossible, if you have small children to pick up.  And breastfeed, before you ditch them again for events that start at 7:00.  Sigh.
  • Interlibrary loan is making me all kinds of happy.
  • LG needs glasses.  I have a new contact prescription and need new glasses.  The lenses are outdated now by several years and Tiny Boy bent the frames irreparably (and I've had them since 2000[?] so really that's a sign to replace them).
  • Had two meetings this week.  And both were rescheduled.  Which is good for this week but not so good for next.  Alas.
  • My students are still making me insane.
  • My colleagues are still making me insane.
  • Someone tell me why I agreed to be a program administrator again?
  • Tiny Boy, alas, had sleep trouble last night.  And woke for the day at 5:30!
  • The result of his binge nursing at 2-6 am is NO MILK when he wakes for the day.  So last night I stashed a bottle of formula upstairs and put water in it when he was all Mama mIL, mil, mil, Mama and it seemed to work passably well so long as we were snuggling, which is okay by me.
  • He needs more words.  I'm hoping that his speech takes off once he gets his tubes.  Because it's getting harder to know which version of BA he's talking about.  We're driving in the car yesterday and he's ba.  BA.  BA.  BA, and LG is all "do you want bottle?  do you want food?  Do you see a ball?"  Ahhh.  My favorite word of his is essss (yes), but it doesn't give me any info that nodding his head didn't.
  • I am ready for spring.  I like snow, but, really, it's time for it to be done.
