Small Good Things

So it's been, like, forever since I did a round of small good things (although LG and I do them nightly) and I've been something resembling depressed (which I'm guessing has to do with the lack of sleep as, fertility treatment aside, I really am not the depressed sort).  So here goes:

  1. Although I was awake from roughly 3-5 this morning (I'm always awake longer than the boy, because I hear him rustling around and don't fall back to sleep after he has), the child snuggled up next to me and SLEPT after his 6:00ish nursing session, and he/we didn't wake up until 7:30.  That is to say, I might have actually gotten 7.5-8 hours of sleep in the 10 hours I was in bed.  Amen.
  2. THERE WAS A GIANT BIRD IN MY BACKYARD.  It was a wild turkey or a pheasant or a peahen or something.  And let's be clear, I live close to a major thoroughfare, so this was just weird.  And by the time I went to grab my camera, it was hopping over the fence, and all I could see was its bird butt.  Someone I know says it was probably a turkey because apparently the turkeys are all over the place right now, but I haven't ever seen one.
  3. I have the framework of a syllabus for my summer class, and in my head it's this wonderful thing where we go to museums and watch films and take walks and write and produce art.  Yes, I said IN MY HEAD.  Reality always disappoints.
  4. I'ma gonna go downstairs in a minute and cook something, because I have done actual WORK today because I can concentrate.  See #1.
  5. It is 1:40 and I have not completely lost the ability to think.  See #1.  Hoping for a repeat.

  1. Hooray for sleep! I can't even imagine how you have continued to function with such fractured and limited sleep for so long.
