Cancelling the Cycle

I'm 90% sure I'm going to cancel my IUI for tomorrow. As much as I'd like to be pregnant *now* (and the due date of Dec 31 is pretty darn cool), I'd rather not waste a vial on a cycle that is less than ideal. I learned a necessary lesson about how I respond to this dose of Femara (and won't be doing it again). And besides, I'm looking at a new cycle starting in 10-14 days. I'm going to call the clinic in the morning and try to speak with Dr. Gorgeous directly to see what she thinks.

And in other wacky ovarian news, apparently estradiol taken vaginally turns the cervical fluid blue. Lovely.

ETA: It is now the morning. I've been awake since 4:30 or so (didn't actually look at the clock) and have had many hours to contemplate the impending IUI. Haven't changed my mind. So unless Dr. Gorgeous has some major words of encouragment, this is a no go. I got lucky once with LG (conceived on a cycle "cancelled" due to a huge cyst and elevated E2 level) and don't imagine that could happen again. In the whole scheme of everything, being pregnant three weeks from now isn't substantially different than being pregnant right now and, frankly, those three weeks are probably really useful from a professional angle (on this end, finish out the semester; on the other end, finish out fall semester [hopefully] even with the likely early c-section [getting WAY ahead of myself here, I know, but this is how my brain goes]). So momentarily I'm calling the office and committing to this plan of action. Finding out what I need to do in terms of keeping hormones stable for the next few weeks. Ironic, I know.

  1. Sorry you are canceling, but I agree that having an IUI on day 8 does sound rather early.
Hope next cycle will be the cycle.

  2. I think you need to trust your gut. Hang in there.

  3. Thanks. Right now I'm really okay with this, as the doctor left the decision up to me. Cancelling wasn't done *to* me because of her incompetence but *by* me because I think it's in my best interest. Makes a huge psychological difference, even if the end result is the same.

  4. Hi, Found you from LFCA. I was going to tell you that my last IUI was early (or so I thought after reading about you) at CD11. I had two mature follicles and did have success and then an early loss. CD8 sounds crazy early though. I'm glad you have a new plan. And I'm glad I found your blog. I enjoy reading about successful SMC!! :)

  5. @meandbaby: Thanks for stopping by! Sorry to hear about the loss. I've always had short cycles/early IUIs, success both times cd 12. But ovulating on day 7-8? Insane!
