It's That Time of the Month

No, not THAT time of the month. The immediately preceding time of the month, when my progesterone level drops and I have insomnia. Usually I associate this night with the night before a negative test result. So I am hoping *fingers crossed* that my body is doing its thing and my cycle will start in the next couple days, so I can get on with the rest of my life (and stop the f-ing estrogen).

In the meantime, I am awake. Very tired (I'm usually asleep by 10:30) and awake, with heart palpitations (oh, goody) and churning brain. I know watching TV is bad for insomnia, but I might just have to do it.

In other news: I wrote a poem this afternoon. While I do not believe in being "inspired" as a general state of being for writing--I'm more of a butt-in-the-chair kind of writer--the poems have been few and far between this year. This one came out of an image of a screaming kid at LG's swimming lesson this past weekend. It's an image that will haunt me for a long time to come. And the poem decently captures the experience.
