Listening to My RE

Apparently I am incapable of listening to my RE and following her protocol (this, you'll recall, was also my reaction to Dr. Evil). Now I do like Dr. Gorgeous, and I do respect Dr. Gorgeous, and I do believe that Dr. Gorgeous is at the top of her game. The one detail that Dr. Gorgeous seems to overlook about me is that I am *small* (I hover just around 100 lbs) and consequently react well to small amounts of drugs. I don't necessarily react predictably, but I react quickly and intensely (how I ended up surging on cd 5-6 when I "doubled" my dose of Femara). So even though Dr. Gorgeous has me on Estrace as a suppression, I'm skeptical of going back to that doubled dose; I already feel a follicle developing and I haven't started taking the drugs yet! Wonderful Former RE (WFRE) was a bit obsessed with my size and always had me on half the beginning dose and it worked (I could get multiple follicles on 25 mg clomid). So here's what I'm doing:

I'm splitting the difference with her. I took my last dose of Estrace last night (per her instructions). I am taking 2.5 mg Femara this morning and 2.5 mg Femara tonight (instead of 5 mg tonight). I will do the same thing the following day. And then I will drop my dose down to 2.5/day through my day 6 ultrasound. My thinking is the higher dose is only useful for me at the very beginning of the cycle, when there's the possibility of generating more than one follicle. I have always had a dominant follicle selected by cd 3-4, so beyond that, all that Femara will do is make that one follicle go into hyperdrive. Worst case scenario with my plan is that the drug doesn't do much good (in which case I will still ovulate but it will be a bit later in my cycle, by which I mean cd 12 or so!); worst case scenario with her plan is that things happen too quickly and/or I develop too many follicles and I need to skip a cycle as a result. I was okay skipping last cycle. I will not be okay skipping this cycle.

I'll tell the nurse what I did when I go in for my ultrasound (because I know Dr. Gorgeous needs to know the truth, for future cycles).

And now I must go take the morning fertility cocktail and finish making LG's lunch.
