- The weather's been cool enough that I was able to move into my new office. (No air conditioning in the building I work in, except for administrative offices.) There's one pile of stuff I still need to go through, but frankly that can wait until fall, when I'm sitting around waiting for students to show for appointments.
- Reese's Peanut Buttercups. SO not on my IVF diet, but it did have 5 grams of protein. Tee hee.
- LG making it through an entire night without a major meltdown. (We're in one of those rough patches when I think about returning her to the cryobank and asking for a refund. Just kidding. Obviously.) We did some of her dolphin puzzles (she wants to be a "barine biologist") and played Trouble, and when she was getting 6 after 6 after 6 I had her rub my belly for luck.
- Paul Auster. Yes, I know he was on a list last week, but seriously, I have not been this happy reading fiction in a very long time (I tend to gravitate toward nonfiction and poetry). Finished The Book of Illusions (fantastic) and Oracle Night (weird weird weird) and now onto Travels in the Scriptorium. Part of the appeal is that none of these books could possibly make it onto a syllabus for any of the classes I'm teaching this year.
- My porch. I've been spending a good portion of my days just sitting out there, either reading for work or pleasure or "meditating." Academic guilt be damned, my priority for the next two weeks is getting through this cycle and staying calm. The work will always be there.
