Things to Do (IVF suppression version)

  • Celebrate cd 1 and the beginning of IVF journey with the second ever Vodka Night. (It's also the eve of the unfulfilled due date for Baby #1.)
  • Figure out how to use the NuvaRing (I mean, I know it's standard protocol, but does anyone else find it weird that IVF requires the use of BIRTH CONTROL to try to get pregnant?).
  • Pester Dr. Gorgeous's nurses. Find out if Microdose Lupron is really the way to go.
  • Order drugs. Hope that drugs really will be as cheap as they appear to be. This will be a several step process.
  • Transfer money here there and everywhere to pay for IVF. Another several step process.
  • Schedule mock embryo transfer.
  • Deal with the cryobank and get another A.R.T. specimen. Another several step process.
  • Continue taking Folgard, prenatal, and aspirin.
  • Stick to my diet. Cut coffee. Add back in decaf green tea.
  • Practice yoga at home.
  • Go about the rest of life (writing, enjoying LG, taking a short road trip, playing with out of town guests [yay for best friend L!])

  1. Am I strange that I loved how busy IVF made me...and that I miss having something to do towards reaching my goal?

  2. Busy girl! Take a shot of that vodka for me. I'll be doing it in spirit.

  3. Yes, I find it very wierd that in order to get pregnant one takes birth control pills.. [though luckily for me I'm doing a short protocol and not doing BCP].

  4. Billy, what's your protocol going to be? Mine's fairly short (10 days birth control plus Ganirelix) compared to a regular lupron protocol, I think...

  5. is :-) [already started]

I started with gonal-f, but at a higher dosage than my previos "just" medicated cycles, then moved on to menopour and menopour together with cetrotide.

The doctor did prescribe me with BCPs, but that was just incase I didn't get an approval for IVF (it was very last minute), so as not to wastet a whole month (i.e I would have taken the pills for two weeks and then start with the gonal etc.). I'm happy that I did manage to get approved on time and therfore didn't need BCPs.

Glad to hear you'll be just 10 days on them! Here's for a successful IVF cycle for the both of us!

  6. Interesting, Billy, that you're not being suppressed at all. Must be nice to get on with the IVF without all that time a-wasting. Of course, I can't even do an IUI without some kind of suppression! Anyway, best wishes!

  7. Murgdan, I like the busy-ness, too, in a way. Just don't want it to take over my summer!
