Random Bullets Before I Pick Up LG

  • The girl has requested that I not pick her up at 4:30 because that doesn't give her adequate playing time at "extended care." She thought 7:00 would be a good time. If she actually understood anything about time and our daily schedule, I'd be offended.
  • LG played a great trick on me this morning. Yesterday the "tooth fairy" forgot to leave her money in exchange for lost tooth #8; LG took this all in stride, because she'd forgotten to leave the tooth fairy a note. So last night, she wrote on the outside of the envelope containing her tooth Deere Touth Fare, Thare is a touth in her. I stuck a post-it on my laptop so I didn't forget, yet again, to exchange it for cash. This morning she told me that the tooth fairy took her tooth but didn't leave her money and actually had me search her room to find it. Then I climbed back in bed, thinking I'd have to find something else to give her because somehow a dollar bill disappeared in the dark corners of her room. Mommy she said, I think maybe the tooth fairy changed her schedule. You should look under YOUR pillow to see if she left money there. I didn't. She insisted. And you know, LG was right :)
  • I went back to the office today to copy syllabi and such. The first person I saw? Crazy Senior Colleague. Then I found out that my computer wasn't networked to the new department printer, which necessitated me installing various programs and finally having the college IT guy remotely control my computer (fucking freaky!) to install it. All the normal annoyances of the beginning of the semester. Sigh.
  • I decided to reward myself with a cup of iced coffee. Actual coffee, with actual milk and sugar.
  • Conversation with Dr. Gorgeous was good. Really good. Though I didn't come away with it deciding anything different. More on that later. The funniest thing she said, when I started crying, was "I think you're going to get PTSD from this room." Trust me, it really was funny.

  1. you have a really cute daughter.... me want one of those... :)

I think Dr. G is right though about the ptsd. I wonder if anyone has ever looked into the long-term psych implications of infertility.
