A Whole New Level of Crazy

So I told A. about the ridiculous daily HPT experiment. And she had a brilliant idea: I could just go to the student health center and request a beta. I haven't decided if that would help me or just make this situation even crazier. Probably crazier, right?

For your viewing pleasure:

p.s. I fully understand that what these pictures mean is that I still have hcg in my system. It does not mean that I am the p-word. Because I'm probably not. (But, yes, I broke down and bought a test that doesn't promise that it will work by 9dpo in 68% of pregnancies. And though the picture is crappy, it too seems to be positive.)
What have I gotten myself into?

  1. I'd love to think you're pregnant. I was going to say that you're definitely going to have POAS everyday until beta... that's what I would do. Even with twins I never got a positive HPT until 10 or 11 dpo (the sticks are still in the bathroom somewhere...) BUT, by 7-8 dpo the trigger was always out of my system.
    Fingers crossed for you!

  2. Thanks Margie!

The last time I took Ovidrel X 2 I didn't bother testing until 10dpo, but it was blank as could be. So I'm thinking tomorrow is the turning point in this experiment...

Would you mind emailing me at gwinne [at] yahoo [dot] com? I've got a question for you and can't seem to find your email in my old smc stuff...

  3. Even after I was getting betas in the 700s, my pee-sticks were still faint as faint could be all the way up until, like 14 dpTRANSFER - but it does seem to me that all injected hCG should be out of your system by now - yes?

If it were me, I'd go for the beta, because I like numbers rather than 'is it fainter or darker than yesterday' questions.

Hoping so very much that this is the real deal!!!

  4. S, I really don't know. I've also only gotten light test results, regardless of whether my beta was practically nonexistent or close to 200.

I know with the old trigger shots (10,000 IU) they said it usually takes 1 day per 1000 units to clear; I have no idea how Ovidrel translates, though I vaguely remember reading it's comparable to 6500 IU per shot? I know I do tend to process Ovidrel quickly (with one shot I've tested before at 6dpo and it was totally negative). Not sure where this leaves me. If it's still + tomorrow I think I'll ask Dr. G for a beta...

  6. In my mind, you (specifically) are pregnant until not. ;-)

  7. sorry if I was preachy about distracting yourself. It's what I try and tell myself but prob not what you needed to hear. To me it looks like there is no line at the second 8dpo and then it comes back faint which seems to be a good sign? Hoping and praying for good news!

  8. Oh please go test. I am so excited about this possibility that I am having trouble waiting! Good luck!

  9. Thanks, y'all. I decided that ultimately it wasn't going to do anything to have a number *today*

But I am seeing Dr. Gorgeous in, oh, 15 hours and if I have even the slightest faint positive tomorrow will beg for a beta, with the understanding that it would need to be repeated on Fri, regardless of result.

Right now I'm trying very hard to think of this as simply "testing out the trigger"... Which (yes, Creative, you're right) seems like it might have happened last night, or maybe not...
